About Us

"The Shark Nation is comprised of a team of diligent scientists working around the clock to find various places to put sharks where they shouldn't be… on a mountain, in a city, under your bed, in your car and in your pants."

  • Matthew Fearington - Shark Nation Flash and AS3 coding expert.
  • Neal Hallenbeck- Shark Nation staff Writer and Animator.
  • Alyssa Baker - Shark Nation illustrator and Character Designer.
  • Steven Lloyd - Shark Nation Sound Technician, Chauffeur and Caterer.

The Shark Nation began as a few simple, innocuous lines on a sheet of paper that soon blossomed into a small inside joke shared between three friends. It began in earnest with the friends sharing jokes, ideas and silly photo manipulations revolving around the idea of a shark attacking mountain climbers. Soon they got the incentive to turn this idea into a game. They realized they each had complimentary talents in art, sound, and flash programming.

In late 2007, Shark Mountain began production in a basement. As the game got into serious development, the team ran into trouble. While their artist was able to create designs and could operate flash proficiently he was unable to properly bring the characters to life. To solve this problem, he enlisted the help of his talented and much more artistically inclined girlfriend. She proved valuable in saving the game's production from what would be its untimely demise.

Shark Mountain finally saw its much-delayed release on October 5th 2009, with the help of its sponsor Arcade Town. While the team had some regrets over the final product and worries about upcoming competition that dealt with similar themes, they were pleasantly surprised at the games success.
